Katie, an Akron native, understands on a personal level the many challenges employers face on a daily basis. This perspective comes from being part of a family that owns and operates a local business. Katie enjoys the day-to-day interactions with employers, learning about their organization and helping them solve their employment issues, even the issues they might not have realized existed. This involves a thorough and comprehensive approach to handling each client’s issues, as well as timely, efficient and well-communicated responses.
Katie frequently works with employers to update or create compliant handbooks and policies that work for and fit the goals of each employer. Katie’s other areas of practice include wage and hour compliance; leave management issues; discipline and termination analysis; investigating and defending discrimination and sexual harassment claims; conducting workplace training; defending EEOC and OCRC charges; reductions in force and representing employers throughout the unemployment compensation process.

A lover of many outdoor activities, Katie, her husband, Dustin, and their young daughters, enjoy spending time outside either running, walking or biking along the Towpath Trail in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park or working around their four and a half acre “farm”. Katie is also a passionate animal lover, especially horses, dogs, cats and sharks. When not chasing after two toddlers, Katie enjoys photography, Cleveland sports, running and having a cup of coffee with her husband.
